Hi, my name is Piotr and I’m an information and user interface designer enjoying creating beautiful, usable and accessible websites since 2005. Pen & paper, Fireworks, Coda and variety of different web browsers make up a perfect set of tools I use for:

  • Design of clean, simple and aesthetic web-site layouts;
  • Creation of beautiful, semantic and transparent code;
  • Content Management System setup;
  • Implementation of third party widgets & scripts;
  • Thoroughgoing usability testing.

I’m currently available for single freelance projects so if you fancy working with an extremely creative web-designer and amazingly organized xhtml and css ninja passionate about his work drop me a line because I might be the right man for the job.

Selected work

Print: Graphic design is what we see (02/’08)

One of the posters I made for the Veerle’s “What is Graphic Design?” Competition which actually won the 5th prize (as you can read on Veerle’s blog) and was featured in one of the Smashing Magazine’s articles shortly after.

Portfolio

The following is a list of major projects I was involved in and it includes some early websites delivered back in February 2007 as well as print and web designs I’ve done since then. All of items are listed below in chronological order and clicking on the images will take you to full-size screenshots placed on Flickr (if not specifed otherwise).

Carlo Poma

Website: Carlo Poma (04/’09)

Design and xhtml & css coding of all the main templates of the new Carlo Poma Hospital Corporation website (link).

T-Shirt designs: Typophile Tee Battle (07/'08)

Illustration: Justyna (05/'08)

My first vector art masterpiece. Many days and nights of infinite play with the pen tool in Photoshop turned out to be a good investment cause the result is absolutely gorgeous.

Creattivita thumbnail

Website: Creattività (04/'08)

Graphic prototype of a home page for a gardening company “Creattività”. Although my job is finished and the design has been approved the website isn’t ready yet.

* Full-sized preview unavailable (yet).

Poster: What is graphic design? (02/'08)

“Breathtaking Typographic Poster” — as noted in one of the Smashing Magazine’s articles. One of the artworks I designed for the Veerle’s “What is Graphic Design?” Competition.

TTM Magazine thumbnail

Website: TTM Magazine Online (01/'08)

Graphic prototype of the home page for TTM Magazine I made as a proposal for Yooplus. I tried to make the design as clean and lightweight as possible. However major changes have been requested by the client (four logos in the header and full reorganization of the elements on the page).

CNA thumbnail

Website: CNA Firenze (11/'07)

Graphic prototype I made for the Florentine cna’s website redesign competition. Make sure to view it in hi-res in order to catch a glimpse of the details. You can find the original layout here.

Designr.it thumbnail

Website: Designr.it v1 (08/'07)

The previous version of Designr.it. Simple, clean and aesthetic layout spiced up with some pretty, useful and easy-to-use jQuery trickery. Pure web2.0 style. Yes, I’m not afraid to admit that :-)

Meyer thumbnail

Website: Ospedale Meyer (05/'07)

Website for the Florentine Hospital Meyer. My job was to code given .psd into valid xhtml & css. The project required certain precision, especially when slicing the graphic layout because of the fixed-width structure of the page.

* Image links to the Meyer’s website.
Il Secolo XIX thumbnail

Website: Il Secolo XIX (04/'07)

xhtml & css coding of three templates based on given .psd file. The pages were complex and many elements had to be styled in defferent ways. Project helped me understanding some advanced css positioning rules.

* Image links to the client’s website.
Idealavoro thumbnail

Website: Consorzio Idealavoro (02/'07)

I was asked to design and code three templates fitting in the company’s branding (logotype and colour palette) and paying particular attention to the accessibility and usability of both layout and code since the website was aimed mainly at people with disabilities.

Those of you who don’t follow me on twitter don’t know that I had a chance to attend the 3rd Italian Information Architecture Summit in Forlì this weekend. I probably would have never even heard of the event if not Andrea Gandino and Simone Economo who not only passed me the information but also turned out to be great companions for the trip. In this article I’ll share some thoughts on the summit and sum up my favourite presentations. I will then close with some brutal type crimes I witnessed during my stay in Forlì.
