Yet as much as they don't know whether to trust her or fear her, they have to decide whether her warnings about the imminent danger to time are true, and if so, what they can do to change things before everything changes around them. I didn't really feel the chemistry between the pair and felt their relationship was almost forced. It was confusing and my head is still spinning from it. I got grasp time travel, just, so adding that extra element had my eyes rolling back into my head from the confusion I was feeling. This poem was written by Henley shortly after his leg was amputated and although he wrote many poems while in hospital, this one is largely his claim to fame. Set in the future, Invictus has a generous mix of scfi and history throughout, with flying time machines and droids in their current time, then jumping back to the past, to the Titanic and places like Vegas. I enjoyed Invictus well enough while I was reading it, and I understand that in particular is supposed to be quite good. Line 16 is not a contradiction of the straight and narrow path, but rather an acceptance of its challenge, similar to that in the third stanza.
